Screensavers for the Pocketbook 613

So I bought myself a Pocketbook 613, an e-reader from 2012. When it's turned off, or as it's booting up, it displays a static image, which by default is just the Pocketbook logo and some info about the device. You can, however, use a custom image, or even a series of images, and the device will choose to show a random one each time it switches on or goes to sleep. The image has to be exactly 600x800 pixels, in .bmp format, and in greyscale, since the Pocketbook 613, like most e-readers, only has a black-and-white display. Limitation breeds creativity, so I became fascinated with the idea of making custom screensavers for this device, wondering what images would look good on it.

The resulting pictures can be found below. They are based on existing art, dithered at doodad.dev, then resized and converted to .bmp in Photopea (because for some reason Krita can't save to .bmp format in a way that the Pocketbook understands...).

Download all of them (Filegardens) in one archive to use on your 600x800 screens (or for whatever you like), or individually from the links below.

8hours.bmp unknown I don't know where this artwork is originally from, but I had it saved on my hard drive and I agree with the sentiment, so. Here it is. Filegarden
biwa.bmp Stars over Biwa Lake by Koho Shoda. Woodcut, 1930 Filegarden
desespere.bmp Le Désespéré (The Desperate Man) by Gustave Courbet. Oil on canvas, 1843-1845 A personal favourite - the contrast really works well on the e-ink screen. Filegarden
hopper.bmp Men Seated at Café Table by Edward Hopper. Transparent and opaque watercolor, pen and ink, brush and ink, and graphite pencil on paper. 1906 Does not look as cool on the e-ink screen as I thought it would. Still a nice image. Filegarden
lotte.bmp Self-Portrait with a Cat by Lotte Laserstein. Oil on plywood panel, 1928 Lotte Laserstein <333 Filegarden
matejko.bmp Astronomer Copernicus, or Conversations with God by Jan Matejko. Oil on canvas, 1872-1873 Sadly, I feel this painting lost a lot of charm after editing - the astronomer's face in particular doesn't look right to me. Filegarden
miyajima.bmp Evening at Miyajima by Ito Yuhan. Woodcut, 1930 Filegarden
ruocco.bmp Sunbirst by Robert Ruocco. Oil on canvas, 2016 This painting is of course much more impressive in colour, but I was still glad to see some cloud texture remain after editing. Filegarden
shinobazu.bmp Ueno Shinobazu Pond by Tsuchiya Koitsu. Woodcut, 1939 The first screensaver I made - I made it even before the e-reader itself arrived in the mail - and still a favourite. There's just something about Japanese woodcuts that work really well with the dithering filters. Filegarden
